Since May 2001 the creative direction and management of the Berlin International Film Festival have been the responsibility of Dieter Kosslick.

 

Born in Pforzheim on May 30, 1948, Dieter Kosslick studied Communication, Politics and Education in Munich 

Thomas Hailer is the programme manager of the Berlin International Film Festival.

 

Born in 1959 in Öhringen (Baden-Württemberg), he studied theatre and German literature in Munich between 1979 and 1981. After working as an assistant director in theatre and musical theatre, Thomas Hailer joined the artistic direction of the independent musical theatre ensemble Bolschoi Berlin in 1983 

Wieland Speck is director of Panorama since 1992.

 

Speck was born in Freiburg in 1951 and has lived in Berlin since 1972. He studied German Literature, Drama and Ethnology at the Freie Universität Berlin. He then started working on video and film projects and was a writer and publisher 

Christoph Terhechte has been head of the Forum since June, 2001.

 

Terhechte was born on July 7, 1961 in the city of Münster, Westphalia. He studied political science and journalism at the University of Hamburg and has worked as a film journalist since 1984 

Maryanne Redpath is the director of the Generation section of the Berlin International Film Festival.

 

She was born in New Zealand in 1957 and has been living and working in Berlin since 1985. After gaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Classical Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Drama from New Zealand universities, Maryanne Redpath moved to Sydney  

Alfred Holighaus is the director of “Deutsche Filme” and of the section Perspektive Deutsches Kino.

 

Holighaus was born in 1959 in Dillenburg in Hessen, Germany. From 1980, he dedicated himself primarily to work in press and broadcast journalism centring on culture and film, while studying theology in Tübingen and Berlin 

Dr. Rainer Rother is director of the Berlinale's Retrospective.

 

Born in 1956, studied German literature and history, completed doctorate in 1988. Since 2001, Rother has been a member of the selection committee of the Competition of the Berlin International Film Festival. 2004 to 2006 co-curator of the Berlinale series Selling Democracy 

Maike Mia Höhne has curated Berlinale Shorts since the summer of 2007

 

Born in Hanover in 1971, Maike Mia Höhne studied visual communication and film in Hamburg and Cuba. Since 2001, she has worked in as a freelance writer, curator, producer, photographer and director in various contexts 

Beki Probst is head of the European Film Market since 1988.

 

Probst was born in Istanbul. She studied law and journalism before joining the daily newspaper "Tercuman" and the weekly newspaper "Hayat". In 1960 Beki Probst moved to Switzerland where she organized several cultural projects. She then became manager of the Probst-Kinobetriebe 

Matthijs Wouter Knol is programme manager of the Berlinale Talent Campus since September 2008.

 

Knol was born in the Netherlands in 1977 and studied Contemporary History at Leiden University and at the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome. He worked as a freelance journalist until 2001 before joining in Pieter van Huystee Film 

Christine Tröstrum is project manager of the Berlinale Talent Campus.

 

Christine Tröstrum was born in Ravensburg in 1972 and studied cultural and theatre studies/cultural communication in Berlin. Through 2000 she worked as a curator for film festivals in Tübingen, Augsburg and Marseille.
