European Film Market

Welcome to the European Film Market!

This year we are pleased to inaugurate our own dedicated site for the EFM, the first international film market of the year. Here we’ll be offering a number of on-line features for making your Market experience as convenient and, we hope, as successful as possible.

Visitors to this site will be able to get general news and practical information about the EFM and Berlinale Co-Production Market such as attendance lists, listings for all films screened at the Market and various updates. Registered EFM participants with a Market Badge or EFM Screening Pass will be able to log in for exclusive access to detailed company information on the various buyers and exhibitors, the films they represent, and an up-to-date screening schedule. Once you’ve obtained your EFM account, you can also access tools for on-line film registration, as well as daily planning and scheduling during the Market.

In addition, the site will also feature a running series of articles on various related issues. These are offered in two sections: Spotlights - articles highlighting the various sections of both the Market and the Berlinale; and Industry Issues - original articles on subjects of interest to Market participants and interested observers. These will be appearing regularly during the run-up to the Market.

We’re looking forward to seeing you here at the 2009 EFM this February and will be doing our best to help you make this another successful year.

Spotlight

Berlinale - The Competition

The Competition is the main event of the Berlinale and was the original seed out of which the Festival, in all its many parts, has grown.
The first International Film Festival Berlin was envisioned as an international cultural event that was to bring the postwar world to Berlin and Berlin to the world. Obviously this also had its political side. And in fact there was the financial side as well - this was seen as an opportunity to help get the decimated film industry in Berlin back on its feet more

Industry Issue

During the course of the run up to the Berlinale, the EFM website will be offering a series of articles on various topics of interest to Market participants and visitors to the site.

“Industry Issues” - subjects of interest to the EFM but not limited to the Market itself. Interviews, opinion and information on both general and topical issues related to the industry scene.

New material will be appearing regularly so it pays to check in and see what’s up.
